Art classes at Fullerton Museum Center
Starting Monday, June 27, the Fullerton Museum Center will host “The Idea Place for Teens,” where teenagers can express themselves through art.

The week-long program is appropriate for kids grades seven through nine, and will allow  participants to create original art using various media. Classes are 1 – 3 p.m. daily through July 1.

Students can work on projects of their choice, with museum staff and docents assisting in an open studio setting. Art projects could include working with acrylic paints, drawing, printmaking, jewelry-making, fused glass and resin casting.

Tuition for the class is $90 for Fullerton Museum Center members and $105 for non-members. The cost includes all materials. Space is limited so early registration is recommended. To register, call (714) 738-6545.

Town and Gown June 14
Cal State Fullerton professor Lana Dalley presents a lecture on “Literary London” on June 14 as part of the library’s “Town and Gown International” series.

The lecture begins at 6:30 p.m., when Dalley discusses Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Emily Bronte and Shakespeare, as well as her experience researching, writing and teaching in England. She will also give tips on how to plan a London literary tour.

Dalley teaches courses on 19th-century British literature and culture, women’s writing, gender studies, history of the novel and literature and film.  She has published articles and reviews in journals like “Victorian Literature and Culture” and “Victorian Poetry.”

Dalley is currently working on a manuscript called “Economic Woman:  Gender, Genre and Political Economy in 19th-century Women’s Writing.” She is also co-editing a manuscript titled “Women and Economics in Victorian Culture.”

Commissioners wanted
Applications are being accepted from anyone interested in filling one vacancy on the Fullerton Transportation and Circulation Commission. The term ends December 31, 2014.

The commission provides input to the Fullerton City Council on matters relating to public transportation, circulation systems, facilities, policies, plans and programs within the city. Applicants must be a Fullerton resident or must work in the city. Commission members serve on a voluntary basis, with no monetary compensation.

Applications must be turned into the city clerk – located at 303 W. Commonwealth Ave. – by July 5 at 5 p.m. They can also be submitted online at www.ci.fullerton.ca.us. For more information, call (714) 738-6571.
